Summer's end.....

I won't apologise again for my blog being neglected, that's getting a little 'old' now, but thought I'd do a 'Summer's End....' post and share some of what I've been doing over the last couple of months or so.

In my last post, Summertime and my poor neglected blog  I wrote about my 'new' healthy regime, well I have continued with that, and am now 26.4 pounds or 12 kilos lighter!!!  I have continued to walk every morning with Lucy my Miniature Pinscher, and we now walk approx 8.5km (just over 5 miles) most mornings.  I have also joined a local municipal swimming pool where I attend two one hourly Aquagym classes every week, and I really love it!!!  It's hard work but definitely good fun!  I've ridden my bike a bit, but I honestly think I'd like to replace it with a mountain bike as mine doesn't have any gears and is really suited more to shopping in a town rather than riding out in the countryside!

I've taken lots of photos during my walks, and will share some here, but please forgive the lesser quality, they are taken on my iPhone.

We've seen some lovely sunrises....

Some beautiful empty beaches, now that the children have returned to school....

Views from the hills above where we live, and towards the mountains.....

We have also seen lots of flora and fauna!  Donkeys, horses and asses.....

Goats and sheep......

Herons....(or could be an egret!)

Chili peppers....

Female peacocks....peahens?

Lovely flowers!

I also decided to have all my long hair cut off about six weeks ago too, it was down to mid back in length but I never did much with it apart from put it in a ponytail, so I went really short, and I feel like a new woman!!!  (Apologies for the 'bathroom selfie', I don't take photos of myself very often!!!)

It's almost the same as I had for my wedding back in December 2005....

Hope those weren't too scary for you!!!!

On the dolly front I have been relatively quiet because my interest waned, probably due to the very hot weather.  My doll/sewing room here on the coast is small and gets very very hot despite having the window open and the fan going full time....plus I really don't like spending time inside when the weather is so lovely.  So as a result I've done very little sewing or playing!  But I have done some ordering!!!!  I have two little BJDs on order and hopefully they will arrived from South Korea some time before Christmas :)

However, I am currently customising a Blythe doll for a friend of mine, and am just waiting on the eyechips arriving.  Once the doll is all completed and put back together I will share photos on here.

I have done a few wig changes with my bjds and today took some photos of my Fairyland Little Fee Antes.  Fiona, the normal skin Ante, is one of the new wig recipients.  I bought this Monique Gold Bubbles wig for her in Honey Blond but I thought it was too pale and made her look 'washed out', so yesterday I dyed it with tea and the colour has turned out perfect for her!

Both of my Antes, Tyrone (left) and Fiona, are playing with their new little baby cousin....under adult supervision of course ;)

Well that's about it for today, I don't want to bore anyone too much!  I hope you've enjoyed seeing some of my photos and also hope that you've all had an enjoyable summer.

Here's to the autumn!!!

Hugs Sharon x

  2. Well done on keeping up the healthy regime and losing the weight. Love the 'new' you :) hair cut looks great and you sound lovely and upbeat and positive after your couple of healthy scares!
I don't blame you for not wanting to spend time in a small room with a sewing machine when the weathers been so hot where you are.
I look forward to seeing your new bjd dolls when they arrive and i love the new wig on Fiona. :) xx

    1. Thanks very much Dee, I'm really enjoying the walking although sometimes I think 'what am I doing?' when that alarm goes off in the morning and it's still dark....the temptation is great to just turn over and go back to sleep!!!

  3. Oh I am glad you are back posting Sharon, I've missed you! I am so proud of you for persevering with the walking and losing all that weight, I know it's not easy to keep going sometimes and it can be tempting to completely chuck it in. Love the new hair do too, (I've just had mine cut for summer) you're looking really great mate!

I love the summer too and can't wait for it to arrive down under. I will probably take some time out myself this year to simply enjoy it. Your photos as always are wonderful and I'll look forward to seeing some of the new arrivals when they settle in.
    Big hugs,
    X

    1. Thanks so much Sandi, glad you enjoyed the post. I must try and keep going with it now as it's very easy to slacken off and not bother posting much, especially when my days are busy, but I will try to get back on track with it.
Glad you like the new hair cut, thanks so much for the nice comment!

  5. Nothing like a nice morning walk - though I seldom manage more than 4km, and that's probably why I don't lose any weight at all... I'm certain Lucy loves it, too!
Your new hairdo is very becoming. Well done!

    1. I agree, I love the morning walking Ursula, especially as in the campo it's so peaceful and quiet. 4km isn't to be sneezed at though, it's still a good walk!
Thanks very much for your nice comments! xxx

I have a mental pic of you on your bike with a basket full of little dogs - LOL!

    1. Thanks so much Rosie, I'm glad you like the post and the selfie!
I admit that I took Lucy for a ride in the basket on my bike recently, but I got told off by Brendan when I told him. He said "but what if you'd fallen off, she'd have got really hurt if she was strapped into the basket!" Notice there was no mention of me getting hurt! LOL

  7. Wow, Sharon, you look wonderful! I really like the short hair look.

You are not the only one who has been blog-neglectful, infact I have just about given up. We seem too busy to take photos and other things have been of greater importance to life than blogging generally.

Love the photos you took on your walks.
    Hugs,
    Jenni xx

    1. Thanks so much Jenni, it's very nice of you to say so!
I can understand how you feel, you certainly have had a lot on your plate again this year so I'm not surprised the blog and photo taking take second place. I hope you'll get back to your photos again one day though, you do take nice shots of your dolls.
Big hugs to you too xxx

    1. Thanks very much Tricia, I'm really determined now that I will keep this up, too many times I've slackened off after a few weeks but it's now been more than three months, and I really enjoy it!

  9. What a gorgeous place to live! The photos are wonderful. If I lived somewhere like that I'd be out walking 5 miles a day! My hubby and I do a lot of cycling though. He has an electric trike, as he has arthritis in his knees and ankles, and I peddle madly behind him LOL Summer's not been great here on the west coast. We've just had a few days in Yorkshire, 2 wet days, 2 sunny and one that couldn't make up it's mind! Autumn is actually my favourite season :) Jane

    1. Thanks so much Jane, I'm glad you've enjoyed this post. I am still thinking about the mountain bike, someone suggested perhaps I should go for an electric assisted bike too but my money box was not THAT full when I opened it!!!! I do enjoy the walking though and if I used the bike, Lucy would miss out and that would be a shame!!!
I'm sorry that your weather hasn't been great for the summer, that is one thing I really do not miss about the UK, the uncertainty with the weather. I remember so many conversations that started "If the weather's good at the weekend...." Hopefully you'll have a dry autumn instead :) xxx
